This past Saturday, 1/16/16, I was assigned to cover the BFA vs Essex girls high school hockey game in Essex for the Essex Reporter with some images being sent to the St Albans Messenger. I had seen the Essex team play previously, cruising to a 6-1 win over Burlington-Colchester, but I had not seen BFA play, so I wasn’t sure what to expect competition-wise.
Essex jumped out to a 3-0 lead, and it looked like they were on their way to an easy victory. However, BFA seemed to come to life in the second half of the game and scored two unanswered goals to make it 3-2. We had a game on our hands!
Even though the Comets were able to produce some real good chances late in the game in an attempt to tie the game (including a shot off the post), a BFA boarding penalty in the final minutes of the game sealed their fate and the Hornets were able to hang on for the win.
Full gallery of images from the game can be viewed on my website under the Sports section (Uploaded on the Wednesday after a game to let newspapers print their photos first), or on my Facebook page.
